Impatience

Last week left my head spinning.  My love for my work and for learning often leave me with more discoveries and insights than I have words for.  I appreciate that my weekly finds force me to bottom line a few of them into words.

Once again I created a video post to bridge what I began to unpack last week about blame https://zoom.us/rec/share/PpKN-CCpiQS5W-4Sa62cV7l2OnYTRKF5C78u7kP7o4H3RbzEXORo9nKMQVp2n2HK.UWCPCR5QHbpMewty?startTime=1604330113000 (4 minutes)

So much of our angst is rooted in disagreement.  At work, at home, in politics, in virtually all aspects of our lives, and never has this divided us more than now.  In this TED talk from Ishan Bhabha he speaks to how important it is for us to make ti safe to stay in dialogue.  Critical to this is meeting in Rumi’s field beyond right and wrong long enough to discover something you might now yet know. https://www.ted.com/talks/ishan_bhabha_how_to_foster_productive_and_responsible_debate#t-553111 (10 minutes)

Last week’s theme was impatience which did not manifest the same for everyone.  It showed up as feelings of frustration, being overwhelmed, exhausted, and resentful. These are all feelings we love to judge and label as “bad”.  When you remind yourself that these feelings are what make you human, it enables you to be curious with them, what are they there to teach you? They are data, not directives! Becoming curious begins the mindset shift and personal growth.  Here are a few of my favourite questions and stems to ask yourself and invite a deeper consciousness of what is in your way…

What am I not saying that needs to be said?

What am I saying that is not being heard?

What am I hearing that is not being said?

What feelings am I not letting myself feel?

What promises have I not kept with myself or others? What promises have not been kept with me?

My core values that are being triggered are…

How is the opposite of my story true?

This feeling reminds me of… (earliest memory).

What scares me about this is…

My payoffs I get from this are…

The facts about this are… (can take a picture of).

My stories about this fare… (what you tell yourself).

My drama roles in this are… (victim, villain, hero)

What else?

Please keep letting me know topics you are hoping to see in my blog posts.
