Clearing

What an overwhelming delight it was to receive so much appreciation from all of you for getting this started.  Without question some of what I will share each week will not resonate for all of you and some of it might even rub you the wrong way.  That is okay! I am fascinated by a lot of things and this is what you will be receiving.  Whereas on our coaching calls or workshop, what I share is intentionally for you, this is not the case for this sharing. I am deeply committed to continuous learning and often that means I am searching to understand things that challenge my point of view and/or deepen my understanding of something aligned to my core values and beliefs. In other words, I encourage you to consume what I share not as a directive of something I am advocating but rather something of interest to me that might interest you.

Hands down my favourite find this week is a Reboot Podcast on trust and psychological safety.  This one I will be following up with many of you individually and as teams.  This in deeply relevant to individuals, teams, families, to everyone. https://soundcloud.com/reboot-io/reboot-extras-13-psychological-safety-and-trust-in-teams

On October 16th I will be doing a keynote session on Radical Self-Awareness at the Imago Conference.  It was planned to be in Nashville but like all other conferences right now, it will be virtual.  As I prepare for my session I have been consuming a lot on this topic.  This is a fantastic article with tips on how to navigate ongoing power struggles with your partner.  It is written in context of your life partner but the same tips apply to those you find ourselves in ongoing power struggles with at work, in friendship, even with your children.

Last week I shared my favourite reads… these are my current reads, too early to give my take on them just yet…

Essentialism by Greg Mckeown (I’ve attached a visual that capture the essence of what he is unpacking)

Internal Family Systems Theory by Schwartz and Sweezy

Healing the Shame that Binds You by John Bradshaw

Thank you to all of you who added to my upcoming reading list with your favourites. Keep them coming!

I will also be sharing a theme of the week prior each week.  What I mean by that is a common topic that kept surfacing throughout my week on my coaching calls.  This happens every week and I am awe of it.  This past week the theme was “clearing”.  Many of you have discovered how important it is to clear the air before a story we tell ourselves becomes the thing in our way from connecting with others. And many of you have developed a strong sense of noticing when stories come up for you but learning to lean into the discomfort of sharing your story and what it stirred in you takes lots of practice. Practice that pays off like no other in terms of strengthening both your skills as a leader and growth from within.  With that in mind I invite you all to re-watch this great 3 minute video as a reminder of what that looks like. https://conscious.is/video/how-to-use-the-clearing-model
